Sharing an Embarrassing Travel Moment

"When I was a girl, for some reason, it was not customary in my family to travel. The maximum was to visit our relatives who lived in a neighboring city. Therefore, I made my first big trip abroad as an adult. I was 24 years old, and I went to Germany for vacation. It was an extraordinary journey, but my strongest impression from there was quite strange - the smell of washing powder. People's clothes smelled faintly of something fresh, pleasant, exotic, and outlandish! Of course, it was the most common washing powder, just its smell was unfamiliar to me. But my brain has forever linked that smell and foreign travel. And so far, although many years have passed and I have visited many countries, if I feel this smell, it immediately seems that I am somewhere in the far, far land in the middle of adventure!"
