Tijuana

Written by Nadia Podrabinek

Tijuana is a large border city in northwestern Mexico, located on the coast of the ocean. It’s officially separated from San Diego in the United States by roughly 25 miles (40 km), but this separation is only nominal; Tijuana and its surrounding area are so expansive that they practically “border” each other.
The presence of a national boundary actually has profound effects on life inside Tijuana as well as its physical appearance: it can be quite noisy, cosmopolitan, chaotic and crowded-and not necessarily safe for tourists.
But if you’re careful to avoid any suspicious areas while exploring the city, there’s plenty to enjoy at little expense!
